Big Forces Entering the Healthcare Market
Just a couple weeks ago, heavy hitter company Walmart announced that they will be adding a healthcare department to stores. So now you will be able to service your car, buy groceries, appliances, etc. AND stop for a doctor visit..!
How does this have anything to do with Real Estate?
In my opinion all local real estate markets won’t feel the same impact. South Florida, the home of many current and future retirees, will be impacted in a major way. Most 55+ homebuyers purchase based on location and convenience. Imagine having to choose between two homes at the same price but one is walking distance from a walmart that provides all these services and the other property requires you to drive or order transportation service to each individual service provider that Walmart has put under one roof.
In the cities of Coral Springs, Tamarac, and Lauderhill there are alot of 55+ communities that could benefit from this.
You see where I’m going here, right?
Now let’s talk about Amazon. They are known to move in silence and dominate every field they enter themselves into. Starting in Seattle they are developing a service that provides online doctor visits and a simple/quick way to have a nurse sent to your home. This is currently only being offered to their employees but will soon be available to the public.
Maybe I’m overthinking this, maybe I’m telling the future? Let me know what you think about these business moves coming soon!
